The tour to the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation has been changed from Wednesday to Tuesday. Please check the Symposium Schedule for current schedule details.

Registration for the meeting will be available every day, but we encourage people to please register during the ice-breaker reception on Sunday evening, or before the Monday morning oral session. Weather permitting the ice-breaker reception will be held around the outside pool area at the hotel. Otherwise, it will occur in a hall on the second floor of the hotel.

If you are presenting orally at the Symposium, please bring your PowerPoint (2003, not 2007) file on a CD or memory stick (flash/thumb drive) to be loaded on to the audio-visual system computer prior to 9:00 a.m. (or earlier) on the day the presentation is scheduled. We would like to avoid last-minute loading of presentations.

History of Coregonid Symposia

The first International Coregonid Symposium in 1969 took place in Winnipeg; the upcoming Symposium in 2008 will mark the return of the Corgonid Symposium to its birthplace.

The series of International Coregonid Symposia was started in Winnipeg in 1969 by Cas Lindsey (University of Manitoba) but included members of the new Freshwater Institute (FWI) in organizing and running the symposium.

These five-day meetings became a series that has occurred every three years starting in France (1984), then Finalnd (1987), Canada (1990, Quebec City), Poland (1993), Germany (1996), USA (1999, Ann Arbor, MI), Finland (2002), and Poland (2005).

The tradition has been to have two meetings in Europe followed by one meeting in North America.
